Nursing Economics, The Journal for Health Care Leaders

A systematic review was conducted to assess patient outcomes of health care provided by APRNs. Sixty-nine studies were summarized for 28 aggregate outcomes. Results indicate APRNs provide safe, high-quality, effective care; have an important role in improving the quality of patient care in the United States; and could help address concerns about whether care provided by APRNs can safely augment the physician supply to support reform efforts aimed at expanding access to care.
